Chris’ family have been based at Gainsford Hall Farm since 1945 when his Grandfather previously a tenant farmer was able to purchase the land and buildings and begin his own dairy enterprise. This dairy enterprise continued until 2005.
Chris was born and grew up on the farm and after leaving school in 1987 he went on to complete a 4-year apprenticeship with P&A Wood Rolls-Royce Motor Car Dealers during which he attended college on a day release basis and attended a number of Rolls Royce course held at the Rolls Royce factory in Crewe.
The following 6 years allowed Chris to work as both a full-time employee and also as a self-employed mechanic spreading his time between 6 workshops in Coggeshall, Colchester, Cressing, Finchingfield and Stebbing. The experience of these years provided Chris with a wealth of experience, knowledge and insights about the finer intricacies of running a garage workshop.
It was clear to Chris that quality, priority and customer service were what determined the smooth running of the business and the customer experience.
After returning to the family farm in 1996 to support his father and grandfather with their dairy enterprise in 2005 the opportunity cropped up for Chris to set up and run his own workshop from his home at Houghtons Farm in Gainsford End.
Finally, Chris was able to draw on all the insights of his earlier years spent in garage workshops and pull it all together under one roof.
Gainsford Hall Workshop was born and very quickly it’s outstanding reputation grew.
Over the following years Gainsford Hall Workshop customer base established and in 2015 another move led them to the new purpose-built premises they now occupy on the main Gainsford Hall site. It is from here where Chris and his team carry out MOT testing for Class 1&2 Motorcycles, Class 4 Cars and Commercial vans and class 7 goods vehicles and servicing for their individual and business customers.
